The Artemio Franchi stadium is modern construction and was built for the World Football Championships of 1933. The architect, Pier Luigi Nervi, was well and truly a great artist in the use of reinforced concrete.

It is a beautiful structure, robust but graceful at the same time, culminating in the tall tower, a futurist element which houses the lighting system, projected and magnified through the large glass window.
