The museum is housed in this imposing building which was the 19th century home of the dealer in antiques, Stefano Bardini. Originally from Pieve Santo Stefano in the Province of Arezzo, he as himself a great collector, as well as a prolific exporter of important works of art.
An example of this is the façade of the building itself. The frames of the large windows are none other than architectonic structures from 17th century altars from the church of San Lorenzo in Pistoia.
Among the works in this collection, which will give you an idea of Stefano Bardini's activity, note the painting by Antonio del Pollaiolo from the second half of the 16th century which depicts the Archangel Michael.
