The Cenacle was the refectory or dining room of an important monastery belonging to the monks of Camaldoli. It was reconstructed in the 15th century and is a sober room dominated on the end wall by frescoes by Andrea del Castagno, dated 1445.
Here you will see bold realism, the sense of color, and attention to perspective in the Last Supper and, over this the Crucifixion, the Deposition and the Resurrection.
In this small museum, you can also see some other works by 15th century painters belonging to the school of Andrea del Castagno.
