Inside the Basilica of San Lorenzo, the two magnificent bronze pulpits by Donatello stand out. They were the last works of the great Renaissance sculptor and are dated 1460.
Some parts of what you can see were in fact made by his pupils, but they faithfully copied the original designs. The pulpit on the right is the more unified work, and the bas-relief with the Resurrection is definitely by Donatello himself.
Although the work of more than one artist can be seen in the other pulpit, you can recognise Donatello's own work – the expressive, the tragic Deposition from the Cross, his last work before he died.
