Museum of Florence as It Was

The old convent of the Oblate Sisters is in Via Oriuolo. These were the nuns who, until 1936, worked in the Santa Maria Nuova nearby with love and dedication.

Today this lovely place houses the Museo di Firenze "com'era".
This museum has an interesting collection of documentary material about the city of Florence, about its town-planning aspects and about how it has undergone transformations.
There are illustrations of the ancient city center which was almost completely demolished between 1870 and 1890. There are also paintings of the villas which the Medici family had constructed around Florence and in other parts of Tuscany.
