The 17th century church of San Frediano with its unfinished façade is the main feature of this piazza that opens onto the River Arno. A noble Baroque building with a bright interior, it is decorated with pleasant stucco work and marble altars.
The dome was painted with frescoes by the Florentine Baroque painter Anton Domenico Gabbiani. As you go out of the church, you will see on the left the granary which the Grand Duke Cosimo III had built in 1695 to store the city's grain.
