This collection of paintings was started by the Medici family and then continued by Habsburg-Lorraines. In essence, it is one masterpiece after another and the works are displayed in a series of magnificent rooms.
Among the most important works, here we will mention just a few:- works by Giotto and his master Cimabue, works by Simone Martini, Paolo Uccello, Piero della Francesca, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian, Correggio, Veronese, Caravaggio, Rubens and Rembrandt.
One of the most attractive rooms is the octagonal room known as the Hall of the Tribune, where the ceiling is covered with mother-of-pearl.
